Gingerbread Apple Crisp with Glazed Nuts: A Cozy Fall Dessert

Gingerbread Apple Crisp with Glazed Nuts: A Cozy Fall Dessert

When the weather gets cooler, there’s nothing quite like the smell of apples and warm spices baking in the oven. Add a golden, crunchy topping and a handful of Glazed Nuts, and you have a dessert that feels like fall in every bite.

This Gingerbread Apple Crisp with Glazed Nuts brings together tender baked apples, cozy cinnamon and ginger, and a buttery oat crumble with just the right amount of crunch. It’s simple to make, easy to share, and perfect for a weekend treat, a family gathering, or your holiday dessert table.

The best part? You don’t need to make a pie crust or spend hours in the kitchen. Just prepare the apple filling, mix the crumble, and let the oven do the rest.

Ingredients

For the apple filling

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the crumble topping

  • ¾ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup Glazed Nuts, roughly chopped

For serving (optional)

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • A spoonful of whipped cream
  • Extra chopped Glazed Nuts

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8-by-8-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, ground ginger, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Toss until the apples are evenly coated, then spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly, then fold in the roughly chopped Glazed Nuts.

Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering as much of the filling as possible. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender when pierced with a fork. If the topping starts browning too quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil for the remainder of the baking time.

Remove the apple crisp from the oven and let it rest for 10–15 minutes before serving. Enjoy it warm on its own or topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a few extra chopped Glazed Nuts.
